BASECAB: Born from Travel, Proven by Life
In the beginning, there was only a map of Europe and a longing for freedom. During our journeys, we quickly realized that a pickup equipped with the right camper shell is the key to reaching places others simply cannot. This potential inspired us so much that we decided to bring to life a concept that combines liberty, freedom, and comfort. The entire CABMANIAC project and the BASECAB shell are more than just a brand and a product—they are the direct result of our own experiences on the road.
Two Families, One Passion.
It all began in 2021 when two families—the Maturis and the Kočišes—decided to join forces. We brought together knowledge and expertise that complemented each other perfectly:
Vision and Precision: Petra and Josef Matura had already successfully launched the Antonie&Emma brand. They decided to pour their extensive experience in premium manufacturing, uncompromising attention to detail, and innovative business thinking into every millimeter of the emerging camper shell.
The Technical Heart and Field Experience: Jan Kočiš became the brain behind our engineering. As a former racer and mechanic who prepared the Škoda 130 for the Dakar Rally (Team Ondřej Klimčiw), he knew exactly what technology requires in extreme terrain. From the very start, if something needed to work, Honza always found the way.
Europe Without Borders: Simona Kočišová became our voice abroad. It was Simona who began opening doors for BASECAB in German-speaking countries, helping our community expand far beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.
2025: A New Chapter in Jablonec nad Nisou.
The year 2025 marks the beginning of a new stage for us. We have amicably parted ways with the Kočiš family, who decided to follow their own path, and we thank them for the miles we traveled together during the launch of this project.
CABMANIAC moves forward—with new energy and an even greater passion for honest craftsmanship. To further develop our vision, we have moved all production and offices to our new facility in Jablonec nad Nisou. This move allows us to streamline our processes and be even closer to you, our customers.
Honest Craftsmanship and the Path to Perfection
Every one of our camper shells is born right in our workshop. Each piece is the result of the precision work of our entire team and close cooperation with proven European suppliers. Our goal is not just manufacturing; it is the fusion of uncompromising quality, practicality, and timeless design.
2022–2023: The Birth of GRANDCAB
In 2022, in Březina u Mnichova Hradiště, we built the first prototype of our flagship model—the GRANDCAB. There followed months of rigorous testing in demanding conditions and the fine-tuning of every last detail. By 2023, we were ready and proudly introduced the GRANDCAB to the public at its first exhibitions.
2024: The Revolution Named BASECAB
The year 2024 became a major milestone with the launch of the BASECAB. This model brought revolutionary freedom in configuration—for the first time, we allowed customers to fully customize the dimensions of the shell to their specific needs. Thanks to this flexibility, the BASECAB fits perfectly on both European and American pickups, offering endless configuration possibilities even for the most demanding travelers.
